Construction accident leads to 1 injury

On Behalf of | Dec 15, 2023 | Construction Workers Accidents

In New Jersey and elsewhere, falls from scaffolding are among the most common types of accidents in the construction field. These falls can occur due to weak scaffold planking, part failures or insecure bracing. According to recent reports, a construction site worker in a nearby state suffered injuries after falling from a scaffold.

How the construction site accident occurred

The recent construction accident happened at around 8:50 a.m. on a Tuesday. A construction worker was discovered lying on scaffolding above a sidewalk shed at an under-construction 34-story building. The façade of the building was being replaced at the time of the fall.

Officials said the worker reported hurting his back after falling two levels. He was taken to a medical center for back pain and bruising. Building inspectors cited the owner of the building for failing to maintain the scaffolding and sidewalk shed deck.

How a workers’ compensation attorney may help

Construction workers injured on the job should ideally file workers’ compensation claims as soon as possible. The Workers’ compensation system in New Jersey provides injured employees with  medical treatment and wage replacement, if appropriate. The sooner they file claims, the quicker their recoveries can be. These claims may also help prevent future illnesses or injuries by helping employers identify unsafe construction site conditions.

An attorney in New Jersey can help with the process of filing a worker’s compensation claim. The attorney will ensure that all of the necessary paperwork is filed properly and promptly. The attorney may also help an injured worker fight a denied workers’ compensation claim and receive the benefits to which he or she is entitled.
