Protecting Workers’ Rights For Decades

When you are injured at work, more than your health is at stake. Your very livelihood could be at stake. Workers’ compensation benefits are intended to help people who have suffered an injury at work get the resources they need to stay afloat during a hard time. Although in theory the workers’ compensation process should be easy, sometimes it is not. It is critical to have someone on your side who will fight to get you all the benefits you are entitled to. For more than 50 years, the Law Offices of Kaplan & Kaplan, P.C., has protected workers’ rights across New Jersey.

Bernand F. Kaplan’s Career

Attorney Bernard F. Kaplan

Bernard F. Kaplan was born and raised on a dairy farm in Wayne, NJ and learned the value of hard work at an early age.  He applied the lessons he learned on the family farm to his studies.  After graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science degree from Indiana University he obtained his law degree from New York University in 1958.

In his mid-twenties Bernard founded the firm, The Law Offices of Kaplan & Kaplan, at his parents’ kitchen table, and soon thereafter opened an office in his home. The firm grew quickly as Bernie, as friends and colleagues call him, brought his small-town values, work ethic and personal touch to his practice helping individuals in need.

Over the years Bernie’s calm and cool demeanor, coupled with his methodicalapproach to trials, served him well and resulted in many hard-foughtvictories for his clients in and out of the court room. Most of these victories took place in Workers’ Compensation court where he was well respected by adversaries and Judges alike.  Over his long career Bernie helped countless individuals recover the maximum benefits they deserved n Workers’ Compensation Court.

Outside of the office Bernie was a “hands on” Dad who coached his son’s teams until they reached high school, and thereafter attended every game regardless of weather or distance. In fact, coaches and players saw him so much they coined the phrase “Bernie the Attorney.”

Upon retirement Bernie has made several presentations to civic organizations in Wayne called “Wayne – A Century Plus” which features deep storytelling and imagery of Wayne prior to its expansion from a farm town to its present more industrialized state.
