Scaffolding fall leads to worker injury

On Behalf of | Jan 2, 2024 | Construction Workers Accidents

Falls from scaffolding in New Jersey are often caused by unstable work surfaces or a lack of fall protection for workers. These falls may lead to broken bones, brain injuries, organ damage and internal bleeding. A worker in a nearby state was recently injured in a construction accident involving scaffolding on a Thursday afternoon.

How the construction accident occurred

The recent construction accident happened at about 2:30 p.m. According to officials, a construction site worker was at a former history and fire museum site when he fell from scaffolding. A brand-new school was being constructed at the site to provide therapeutic and special education services for adults and children with disabilities.

A medical helicopter flew the worker to a medical center after the fall. It was not immediately known how the construction worker fell. Details about his medical condition also were not immediately known. Authorities continued to investigate the cause of the accident.

How an attorney can help

Construction workers in New Jersey who suffer on-the-job injuries may benefit from contacting an attorney right away. A workers’ compensation attorney can help an injured construction worker file a workers’ compensation claim, which often times leads to payments for medical expenses, lost wages during his or her recovery, a monetary award for the severity of the injury and benefits to the worker’s dependents if the worker passes away due to his or her work-related injuries. The attorney can also litigate a claim if the  employer denies it. The attorney will strive to ensure that the worker’s rights and best interests are protected during each stage of the workers’ compensation process.
