Caught in or between incidents continue to be a leading cause of injury and death in the construction industry. In some cases, it could take little more than a minor shift for an object to fall over and trap a person against a wall or other machine and the outcome of such an incident could wreak havoc on one’s life. A man reportedly suffered severe injuries after being trapped between a portable crane and a wall during a recent construction accident in New Jersey.
According to reports, emergency responders were called out to the scene of the incident on a recent Thursday morning. They say it occurred as a worker was performing project tasks next to a portable crane. Reports indicate that the crane suddenly shifted and fell over, trapping him between it and a nearby wall in the process.
Officials have advised that he was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of severe injuries. While the Occupational Health and Safety Administration has advised that an investigation into the incident is underway, no further information was provided as to what might have caused the crane to fall over. Incidents involving similar circumstances can carry dire ramifications that could leave a worker with severe injuries and facing a long road to recovery.
